Vacation
One last post before vacation. So this morning--off to the bank and the grocery store. Went to grocery to buy sub sandwiches to eat for lunch on the road--and of course spent $50 before leaving. The bacon we use was on sale--the ice tea mix we use was on sale--and you know how it goes. Then home to pack--out to dinner tonight. I will fix a light breakfast prior to leaving in the morning. I am all packed--my husband will probably finish packing after we get home tonight. I figure whatever I forgot--I will just do without. It is after all only a little over a week. Am planning to visit a yarn shop while we are down there called "Knitting Up A Storm." Am really heavy into yarn addiction at this time. Do have wrap sweater on the needles for my grandaughter--but am only taking socks to work on while away. Need something mindless. Well, won't post again until Oct. Will miss my one month blog anniversary--started blogging on Aug 23. Pic above is the sweater I am working on. Well Happy Knitting To All and to All A Good Week.

Crocheted Baby Sweater
Sock Addiction
Oh My!!!!! I am addicted. I can't stop knitting socks. The above socks, as you can see, are on the needles,--are made with Online Supersocke 100 Tropic Color 927. My basic 56 st. sock pattern on #2 needles. Basic socks have finally become mindless knitting to me after learning to knit socks about 10 months ago. I hope to graduate to some more complex patterns after Christmas. Too busy making Christmas gifts now. I plan to start a wrap sweater for my youngest grandaughter--if I can ever quit knitting socks. I did about 25 or 30 rows on these socks at my daughter's Pampered Chef party last night. There were 3 of us sitting there knitting--I wonder how that made the consultant feel? By the way Kel, how did ya do on your party. Blogging is how my daughter and I communicate ::snort:: Will probably not get much knitting done for the next few days--nor posting for that matter. That is why I am posting today. We are leaving for vacation Sat--wooohooo!!--Myrtle Beach here we come!!!! My DH promised to take me to a yarn shop down there that I learned about from Mollie, another knitting blogger--thx Mollie. You can visit her blog at nightshiftknitter. She has a very nice blog. I will let ya know all about the yarn shop Mollie. Well gotta run and get some work done. Happy knitting to all.

Baby Tiger Sox
Wow!!!!! Baby sox sure do knit up fast!!!! I used the Infant Sock Pattern at socknitters. I did 15 rows of k1p1 ribbing for the cuff instead of making a roll down cuff and did 10 rows after the gusset instead of 6 to make foot just a tad longer. I am really pleased with the way they turned out. Could literally make a pair in a day if I had to. Happy knitting to all

baby tiger sock
I did it. I made my very first baby sock--out of leftover opal tiger sock yarn. I used the infant sock pattern by Judy Ellis at socknitters.com. I made two minor changes--I knitted 10 rows after the gussett instead of 6, and did only 15 rows of ribbing for the cuff. Isn't it tooo cute. Can't wait to make the second one. No "SSS" here!!

Finished Socks
WooooooHooooo!!!!! I finally finished the socks. I bought the yarn on e-bay--I don't remember the kind of yarn--lost the label--the color was called Hard Freeze. I think they turned out nice--am very pleased--due to hand dyed match not perfect match--but I am not dissatisfied. They are a basic 56 st. sock pattern with a short k1p1 cuff. Plan to start a pair of baby socks for --guess what--the baby shower-- out of Opal Tiger. I had some left over and think they will be darling. Well happy knitting to you all!!
Loop Stitch Booties
These are another pair of loop stitch booties. I have been making these for almost 30 years and everyone I know who has a baby gets at least one pair. They will be added to shower gift for my daughter on Oct. 7. I have finished crocheted baby sweater and started the hat. Pics will be posted after the shower as she hasn't seen these. She knows what the loop stitch booties look like and expects them. ::snort:: Looks like I may get done what I wanted to before vacation. YYYYYYYYYYYEeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssss!!!!!

Great Day
Had lunch today with my Mom, my three girls, and my grandaughter who just turned 5 Sat. Sept 8. Happy Birthday Alli. Above are pics of them all. Of course they are not current. The baby is 5 year old Alli. We went to Applebee's and the waiters and waitresses sang and clapped to her and she was sufficiently embarassed. The three girls were my girls in 1977. And the one at the gas pump mom is my Mom, circa????. We all had a really nice visit. After lunch my middle daughter and my grandaughter and I went to the shoe carnival and Alli's mom bought her a new pair of high heeled sandals. She is such a girly little girl. Then a Walmart run. Then I came back home to cook supper etc. It was a wonderful day. Thanks everyone for the great day!!!!

Personality Painting
Click here to create your own painting.
I saw this little fun thing on another blog a coupla weeks ago--can't remember which one--so if it was you leave a comment and take credit. It is a personality test you take and it creates your painting. This one is mine. Just go here and do it. Hey Kel we shall have to see if we come close. ::snort::

Template
Well as you can all all see I have changed my template. The side bar on the other one cut off a lot of my pics, this one doesn't seem to do that--I think I am going to like it. I have also added a meez from meez.com. I made a nurse. Kinda fun. I have sure learned a lot of cool stuff since I started blogging. Thank you Kelly
Old WIP
Does anyone have an old WIP? I was cleaning the blue room (my yarn room) when I came upon this. It has been on the needles at least 25 years. I know one of my daughters said that maybe it would be back in style by the time I finished it ::snort:: I don't even think that they make the yarn anymore. Oh my!!! How time does fly!!. Well now that I have stopped to take a pic and post I guess I had better get back to my cleaning!!
Big Garage
This is my husband inside the garage dressed to work on one of his cars. This is a very small part of his garage. He has it all. A lift, parts washer, bead blaster, giant air compressor--you name it he has it!!! He has a parts bin upstairs. Well when you have five 56 Desotos, I guess you need all that. At one point he added on to the garage so we could park inside, but, you guessed it--he just bought more old cars to put in there. No plans to do much knitting or crocheting today. Have to clean and pack before vacation--and it finally cooled down enough to do that. I am putting the edging around the crocheted baby sweaters then need to do the sleeves and the hat--but that shouldn't take too long--looks like we might make it before the shower. And my second sock needs about 50 more rows--that counts the toe--and it will be done. Well you all have a great day.

Work
Well I did get through the night and left on time. I go in a half hour early so I can get done. Tonight no lunch break--another 1/2 hour of pay though. 5 extra kids does make a difference. Just really glad that it is over and I don't have to go back till Tuesday.
Work
Well it won't be knit and blog today. I am off to work in about 45 minutes and not looking forward to it. I am a nurse in a long term care facility for mmrdd pediatrics and they are remodeling. They just opened a new floor and moved Pod H to it and closed Pods C and D (Pods are what we call the floors right now--names are to change when remodeling is done)The new floor is called Sienna Woods. Oh the adjustment to change. I am not good at it. They are moving the C and D kids to 3 other pods. My Pod will go from 25 kids to 30 kids and just one nurse. Ah well I am sure I will get through the night. Just a matter of adjustment right? Attitude and otherwise.) I am working on the gussett of the second sock. Also did about 5 rows on crocheted baby sweater--if I would just sit down and work on the blamed thing I could finish it, but I can't get away from those addictive socks. I'll bet you can guess what everyone is getting for Christmas!!! We are doing a car show tomorrow if the weather is good--my husbands addiction--and of course a lawn chair and some kind of needlework will go with me!!! Well I hope that everyone has a nice weekend.

Blog and Knit
I think I really need to get a life. Blog and knit--knit and blog--that seems to be all I am doing this days. I am about half done with my second sock. so far I haven't suffered from SSS ( Second Sock Syndrome) But once I finish the first sock, it seems I have to get the second one done so I can start the next pair. Is that a form of "SSS"? The weather is really hot and muggy--has been for the past 2 days. Over 90 at our place both days. Best thing to do is to sit in front of the fan and knit, knit, knit. I didn't iron yesterday because it was so hot--but did get it done today. And I really need to get going on that baby sweater and hat--I did get it started and have a pretty good jump on it, but can't seem to stay too long away from the socks. Help--I'm knitting and I can't stop!!! By the way--I have so far refrained from buying more sock yarn. My husband is out in the garage working on his addiction--his cars of course. He is inventorying new parts he just bought. Someday I will post pictures of his bigger than our house garage. Well that is about it for todayl You all have a great one.
Happy Birthday

more socks
This is a picture of the socks that I have on the needles. This is the first sock but it is almost done. I used the 56 st 56 row pattern which is on my side bar for your pleasure. I however did 36 rows of k1 p1 ribbing for the cuff and used the pattern for the heel, turning the heel, gussett and toe--40 rows of st st for the foot--fits a small foot. #2 double pointed needles and sock wt. (fingering) yarn. I cast on to #4 needles. I decided I wanted a shorter cuff for a change. I think I am going to try a patterned stitch on my next pair--maybe a cable or something. I am finally starting to feel pretty confident knitting socks. It will be a year in Nov. since I started. This is my 12th pair.
Sock Yarn Stash
This is my sock yarn stash, enough to make 45 pairs of socks. The sad thing is getting out this yarn and taking pictures of it makes me want to buy more--but I will refrain!!! That does not count my stash of wool blend worsted wt. to make around the house socks, afghan yarn, sweater yarn, baby yarn, felting yarn, etc. I have tons and tons of yarn. Probably more tha I will ever make up in a lifetime--consequently my girls tend to reap the benefit of that. Now I have been addicted to buying yarn for years and years and years. It was the one thing I bought even when I didn't have the money to buy it. I guess we all need a compulsion. But whenever I want to make something I do not have to go shopping, which is a good thing, because there are no yarn or craft shops close to where I live. Heck, there is not even a grocery store close to where I live. If I forget something at the grocery store I just pray the little store over town has it, and I pay the price.

Welcome To My World
Another day in my world. Nothing exciting. A little grocery shopping, a little ironing, a little laundry. You know--the usual. I did about 5 rows on the crocheted baby sweater I am making and 10 rows on my socks. Actually 30 rows and my first sock of this new pair will be done. I need to take a pic and post it. I will post pics of the baby stuff after the shower--don't want my daughter to see it prior.
Well Here is a funny story, I think. Last week a good friend of ours invited us to their house for 15 bean soup. She made it with polish sausage. It was absolutely delicious--I loved it--unfortunately I found out about 5 hours later that it didn't love me. And it didn't love me for about the next 8 hours. I think my husband wanted to move that night. I told my friend I would love to come to her house for lunch again, but please no bean soup. She laughed--apparently she had never made it before because she said it did the same thing to her. Oh well I probably shared way more info than any of you wanted. So you all have a great day.

Feeling Old
This is what I feel like tonight. I went back to prn(as needed)from full time last Dec. I had gone back to work full time to pay off some major debt--did it in a year. Sooooooooooo proud of myself. Anyhooooooo after working 3 of the last 4 days I feel like I am working full time again. My old body just is not used to that. At least I don't have to work again until Sat. And I will be on vacation from Sept. 15 to Oct. 8. Hope to get some serious knitting done then. Have to grocery shop tomorrow but maybe will be able to knit and read some. Until next time--God what a boring blog I have.
labor day
This is how my knitting has been this weekend. Kinda haven't done much of it. Am working today--after working Friday and Saturday. After all somebody has to do it and it is time and a half today. Besides that, as a PRN nurse I have to pick up one holiday a year and haven't done it yet and didn't want to get stuck with Thanksgiving or Christmas. Wanted to work on a baby sweater I am making my daughter last night, but crashed on the counch at 9:30. Never woke up till 8:30 this morning. Ah well must have needed it. The weather has been great all weekend. Mid 70's to low 80's with no humidity and lots of sunshine. Can't get any better than that. My husband got the pool closed Saturday. Luckily the neighbors were home Saturday to help him put the cover on. Well hope everyone has a great day.

My Three Daughters
These are my three girls in my youngest daughter's wedding almost 4 years ago. How time does fly. She is expecting her baby at the end of Oct. The youngest daughter that is. She had 3 other children prior to this marriage. We are all very excited for her. Aren't my girls beautiful? Will be working again today. Had a decent night last night at work--hope it continues. I will be working again Monday. If it stays decent I will get through it. Haven't worked 3 out of 4 days in forever. Gotta run and fix lunch. You all have a great day unless you've made other plans.
