Hot Air Balloon

I was ironing when my DH called me to hurry up and come outside. And there it was--a hot air balloon right over our lake. How exciting. The camera was in the car and I managed to get these 3 shots just before it landed behind the trees--we figured at a neighbors farm. We are in the country. It was lovely to see!!!

The Weekend

Wow did it get cold here last night. Not sure how cold, but it is 9:30 am and our thermometer reads 36 degrees now. The weather man said it could get down into the 20's BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Winter is coming!!!! Little Joey came home from the hospital on Friday and is doing really well. Poor little thing. Now, I am dating myself, but when I had my kids they made us stay in the hospital 5 days--and by then that jaundice thing was taken care of if there was a problem. His bilirubin came down and he gained back the weight he lost so all is well on the home front.

Mu husband took me on a suprise overnight stay Friday into Saturday. We stayed in a motel in Bolivar, Oh and spent the day lounging around the pool and in the hot tub, then we had dinner Friday night at the Atwood Lodge. It is a lovely area and a really nice restaurant. Saturday we did a little walking and shopping in Sugar Creek, Oh. Then we went to Walnut Creek, Oh and had lunch at the Der Dutcman Restaurant. Then we went to Kidron, Oh to Lehman's Hardware Store. This is a mammoth store that caters to the amish but draws lots of visitors from all over. Really a unique place to visit. Ohio really is a beautiful state. Well gotta run. Happy knitting to all.

Little Joey

Just a quick post. Poor little Joey is off to a rough start in life. He went back to the hospital last night for Jaundice. The biliblanket they had at home was not bringing down his bilirubin count. But with the bililight and IV it is now down from 21.5 to 16.2. When it gets down to 12 he can go back home. This is probably harder on mom and dad than it is on him--he still looks good other than being a little yellow. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Another Day

No pics today. Very busy weekend. Just thought I would let all know that little Joey has a broken collar bone--from delivery. They have to keep his sleeve pinned up some how. Being as young as he is I know that he will heal quickly, Otherwise he is a healthy baby and mom and baby are home and doing fine. Thank you all for your comments and prayers etc. Have not gotten any knitting done since the birth. Worked yesterday--wasn't a particularly fun day at work--but I still like my job. They pay us to work, not have fun::snort:: Had teeth cleaned this morning. Yay!! And am going to make a lasagna casserole to take to my daughter's on Thursday Here is the recipe. It is easy, delicious, and feezes well and microwaves well.

Lasagna Casserole

1 pound ground beef
¼ cup chopped onion
½ tsp. Salt
½ tsp. Pepper
1 pound medium shell pasta. Cooked and drained
1 pound (4 cups) shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1 carton (24 oz.) small-curd cottage cheese
2 eggs, beaten
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 tbsp. Dried parsley flakes
1 jar (26 oz.) spaghetti sauce.

In a skillet, cook beef and onion until meat is no longer pink and onion is tender; drain. Sprinkle with salt and ¼ tsp. Pepper; set aside. In a large bowl combine pasta, 3 cups mozzarella cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, parmesan cheese, parsley flakes and remaining pepper; stir gently. Pour into a greased 13” x 9” x 2” or shallow 3-qt. Baking dish. Top with the beef mixture, then the spaghetti sauce, and the remaining cheese, (dish will be full.) Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes Bake uncovered 15 minutes longer or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Yield 6-8 servings.

I use more hamburger, mozarella cheese, and sauce than recipe calls for.

Well gotta run and get to work Happy knitting to all

Little Joey Has Arrived

Little Joey arrived at 1:52 pm today weighing in at 7 lb. 10 oz, 19" long Mom and baby are doing fine. He is just adorable--of course would gramma think anything else?? He is 2 hrs old in pic I posted of just him. Big Sister Ashly. 16 Y. O. proudly holds Little Joey and is already starting to spoil him rotten--what else do you do with a new baby. Big Bro Ian, 9 Y. O., also loves holding his baby brother. Nathanial, 11 Y. O. opted not to hold him. He is has high functioning autism and does not care a lot for a change in his routine--but I know that he will adjust. We are so happy he has been delivered and all are doing well. Thanks everyone for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.

Finished Poncho

The poncho is done. Even with everything that is going on here it was done in one week from start to finish. Not bad. And by the way--my user name at ravelry is luvtoknit

Ravelry

I can't believe it. As I was getting ready to go to the hospital to see my very pregnant baby daughter, I checked my e-mail, and there it was--my invite from frecklegirl to ravelry. How exciting. Maybe the weekend I will have time to explore and post--but it is baby time here. Hope to be in bed by midnight tonight as I plan to get up at 5:30 am to be back at hospital by 8:00 am (unless I get a phone call sooner.) They are going to start the ptocin aroud 1:30 to 2:00 am and plan to start very slowly. They are thinking maybe by noon tomorrow we shall see the baby--but you never know about these things. I did fill out my profile and set up a flickr acct. so I did do something--that was after the hospital. We are all very excited. Happy knitting to all.

Gift socks and poncho

Just a few things I got done over the weekend between work and other obligations. I put in a pic of the sox I am making for my aunt for Christmas. The blue sock is from the pattern book--it is the basic sock pattern from the book "Learn To Knit Socks" by Edie Eckman--12 designs in sportweight yarn. It is from The American School of Needlework. She is allergic to acrylic and wool, so it is really hard to knit anything for her. It will be made from Cascade Fixation yarn. A pic is above of the sock on the needles. Not sure if I like it or not, but am sure that it will do. Also crocheted poncho is half done. It is 2 rectangles sewn together, Pic above. Well, plan to spend rest of the day doing housecleaning today and hopefully tomorrow sorting through summer and winter clothes--ugh. Ah well, needs done. Happy knitting to all.

Socks Modeled

Well here they are on a model--ignore the old legs and just look at the socks ::snort:: This is the first time worn and I will wear them all day. I will think of Myrtle Beach as I wear them in this lovely 50 degree weather--and I do like 50 degree weather very much!!! The last coupla days I have been visiting a blog called the Brownberry Chronicles. She has posed some very interersting questions. She also mentioned a yarn diet. I ask now what is a yarn diet. I tried one once. On Jan. 1, 2005 I made a resolution to not buy any more yarn until I used up what I have. Bought yarn by Jan. 4, 2005. That is my idea of a yarn diet. I have more yarn than I will ever knit up or crochet up in a lifetime. I have a friend who says, "He who dies with the most yarn wins." I have crates & crates of yarn and then some and crates and crates of patterns. My daughter once said that my yarn room is better than the Hobby Lobby (may have said this before--creeping senility). I have all the knitting needles--crochet hooks and accessories one could ever want. Now if I could just quit blogging and get off this danged computer--I could make use of all this wonderful stuff. I love reading other blogs and will continue to search around I am sure. Just another addiction. Happy knitting to all.

WIPs

Hi ho, hi ho. it's back to work I go. Well haven't worked in almost a month, 3 days shy of a month. I am and am not looking forward to going back. I could get real used to not working. But then again I love what i do and know that once i get there it won't be so bad. Thought I'd post a few pics while I had a chance. Myrtle Beach sox are finally done. Finished them 2 days ago and am keeping them as a souveneir since most of the work was done on them in Myrtle Beach. There is some progress on the wrap sweater--6" are done. Also started crochet poncho last night. Worked on it about an hour--have made so many of them that thought I could do it without pattern--well a frogging I did go. Oh well. It has been a while since I made one. I will make this without fringe. It is really pretty when done--will post a pic then. Hopefully in a week or so, but have a really full schedule. Am working 3 out of the next 4 days and doing dinner with DH's DD on Sat. Going to Hartville Kitchens--great place to go in Hartville, Oh. Can't wait. Well happy knitting to all.

New WIP

I guess this is 1/2 a post--no pics ::snort:: Well I decided to take a break from knitting. Took car in for service and when picking it up saw a friend we have that works part time at the dealership. Had on a poncho I had madefor myself and she loved it--sooooooo--I am making her one. It is crocheted. It is listed on the crochet pattern central site (Poncho 1972) Sorry to lazy to put in the link--easy enough to find. I am making it out of woolease worsted wt. Rose Heather. Mine is out of Blush Heather. She picked the color. I love to crochet also--so this will be a nice quick project. It really is much faster than knitting--but I do love to knit and love the end result and the intricate things you can do with knitting. Knitting also uses much less yarn. Keeping really busy as usual. Decided to do some real needlework today instead of just reading about it on blogs. You just don't get much knitting done reading everyone elses blogs. Well happy knitting and crocheting to all.

Baby Shower

The baby shower was a great success. Above are pics of Andi and Joe--the proud parents to be. Andi and Joe's 16 year old daughter Ashly--Joe adopted Ashly after he and Andi were married--he's a great guy and we love him. And just Andi--she looks great for being due in less than three weeks. She let me take a pic of her belly without a head shot--but I opted not to post that one. A great time was had by all!! Thank God the hall was air conditioned--the outdoor temp was close to 90 degrees. Really hot weather in NE Ohio for October. Still really hot today. Supposed to cool down for tomorrow. I am ready for that. Well hope to get back to knitting soon. Hsappy knitting to all. Her sons, Nathanial 11 and Ian 9 were not present at the shower. I will try to post some pics of them at a later date so ya can all see how handsome they are. And of course there will be pics when the new little one arrives

last 2 yarn shop pics

Well these are the last 2 pics that I took of the Myrtle Beach Yarn shop "Knitting Up A Storm" in North Myrtle Beach. Gonna run now and work on my socks. Happy Knitting.

Grandson

Would you believe that one of my 9 3/4 grandkids turned 15 last Sat?? Actually number 10 is due 10/27. Isaac is the second of my oldest daughter's three boys. Am going to a party in about half an hour to help to celebrate his birthday. I couldn't believe that my kids grew up and now my grandkids are growing up right before my eyes--and it happened so fast--like overnight. Spent the day trying to do some cleaning up here-am so unorganized since I have gotten older-used to be very organized. That happened too--right before my eyes!! ::snort:: Baby shower is tomorrow--can't wait. Happy knitting everyone.

And Yet More Yarn Shop Pics

Wow!! Only 2 more yarn shop pics to post. Will hopefully do that later tonight or tomorrow. When we go to Myrtle Beach every Sept. we meet up with friends down there--usually 7 or 8 other couples--the pic of the person is one of the friends who shares an interest in knitting and crocheting. Her name is Brenda. We spent a really nice morning together while visiting the yarn shop. Gotta run and go to my mom's and do some shower shopping. Catcha all later.

FO and UFO

Well I thought maybe I ought to post something other than yarn shop pics ::snort:: The socks are the ones I started before vacation. I did most of them on vacation, but alas, still have 40 rows to go. I thought I would have all the time in the world to knit in the car--but somehow when riding for long periods of time--my eyes slam shut. I also help drive. I have a bad hip and my husband a bad knee so we get farther faster when we share the driving. Who would ever let a little pain stop them from having a glorious vacation!!?? The sweater is the one I am making for my grandaughter--I posted a pic of it earlier. It is made from Lion Brand Woolease Blush Heather. The scarf is just a little something I started 2 years ago and finally finished sometime in Sept. One of those WIP I found while cleaning. You all know, one of those things I forgot I was making. I decided to keep the socks for myself as a vacation souveneir. Everytime I wear them I can think of Myrtle Beach. Besides that they are made from an OnLine Beach Color. Well gotta run and get into the day. Baby Shower in 2 days. Gotta get ready. Happy knitting to all.

And More Yarn Shop Pics

Now bear in mind that all pics are of different areas of the store--this will give you an idea of just how big this shop is. She has any kind of knitting or crocheting accessory you can think of. Bags galore. I bought a really nice heavy waterproof bag to carry my knitting to the beach in--and it was on sale for half price. She has a half price section--2 big sections in the back of the shop. She has knitting t-shirts (novelty) she makes knitting gift baskets--has a bunch already made up or will make what you want. You name it she has it. Great shop!!! Well gotta go and finish post vacation stuff. Happy knitting.

more yarn shop pics

Just a few more "Knitting Up A Storm" yarn shop pics. Great store!!!

Myrtle Beach Yarn Shop

While in Myrtle Beach I visited a yarn shop in N. Myrtle Beach called "Knitting Up A Storm." It was really a great yarn shop. I will over the next few days post pics I took of the store. I took a total of 18. These are the first 4 that I will post. Don't want to bore you all with 18 pics in one post ::snort::, These are the area where the owner has her patterns--and a really lovely selection of patterns I must say. I did buy a pattern book of felted purses with some really great patterns in it. I will post about 4 pics a post. If I have time will do another post later today. The owner declined to have her pic taken and put on the blog--but says that she does welcome the free advertizing..LOL..I do want to add that when I start posting the other pics that they are of all different yarn bins. The store was huge and very clean and neat and organized, unlike a lot of other yarn shops I have been in. Tons and tons of name brand quality yarns. So if you are ever in the Myrtle Beach area it is a great shop to visit. It came highly recommended by Nightshiftknitter

vacation

WooooooooooHooooooooo!!!!! Myrtle Beach was great. We always gravitate towards water for our vacations, but the ocean is the best. We go to Myrtle Beach yearly the end of Sept. every year. The weather was great. 80's and 90's all week with--you guessed it--sunshine and no rain. It doesn't get much better than that. Sat. and Sun were a little windy with rough surf. Those were the only 2 days we weren't playing in the ocea. But still did the beach and used the pools. Would you believe that me, the night person, was up to take a pic of the sunrise--of course I went right back to bed until 8:00--::snort:: And in the one pic of the ocean if you look really hard, you can see my husband out there. Did go on Monday morning to the yarn shop in North Myrtle Beach--Knitting Up A Storm. Will post pics of that marvelous yarn shop later in the week after all post vacation clean up is done. Eat your heart out Mollie. The yarn shop was grand. I took 18 pics and they were all different areas of the shop. Forgot a pic of the outside however. Well, gotta run--great to be home. Hope to be blogging regularly soon!!
