Fetching
What a quick knit. Another pair of fetching from Knitty. My 16 year old grandaughter snagged the first pair I made--so I made another pair. These only took about 5 hours to make the whole pair. Definitely a great last minute gift idea. Happy Knitting. By the way--you can see the 16 year old grandaughter in the pic below.

Merry Christmas
Had a great day with my husband's family today. Will have a great day with my family tomorrow. We do Christmas with my kids, their kids, my Mom, my Aunt, My bro and his wife and their 2 kids and 4 grandkids the day after Christmas every year. We will have a house full. My girls take turns hosting every year--I would love to host but live 30 to 40 miles from everyone and we feel if the weather turns bad it is better for only one family to be driving far. So--hope everyone had a great holiday.

Fetching
My very first Fetching Fingerless Mitts. From Knitty.com summer 2006. Such a quick knit. Made this one in an evening. So this pair is half done. I had never worked with waste yarn before, and it wasn't as scary as I thought. I made this with Bernat Alpaca. love it, love it, love it. Will probably make the other one tonight after all my work is done. I do have all gifts wrapped and am cleaning house today. Hope to rest tomorrow and do food prep Monday. Bought cookies from my daughter. Doing Christmas with my husband's family Christmas Day and with my Family Wed. Can't wait to see everyone. After all, Christ and family is what Christmas is all about. Happy knitting to all and a Very Merry Christmas.

Another Family Day
What a difference 3 weeks makes. He sure is growing. My daughters Toni and Kelly, my Mom, and myself babysat little Joey while his Mom and Dad finished up some Christmas shopping. Two cousins, little 5 year old Alli and 13 year old Allen were also in attendance. What a joy and privilege. Toni was the official diaper changer!! The rest of us laughed and said, "We hold, we feed, we play with, but we don't do diapers." Good thing Toni was there. (Just a joke of course) We had a great day sharing each other's company and laughing about the good old days when my kids were small. And of course my mom told some wild tales about my brother and I. Great day had by all. Also got to visit with Andi and Big Joey after they got home. Poor Toni got called away early because one of her boys was throwing up at school. Ahh, those days are gone for me.. Well just thought I'd share a little eye candy and some of the good things in life. Hope you all have a great day--and--Happy Knitting.

wild turkeys
The turkeys are here. We had tons and tons of them last winter. They are really big. The not so good pics are taken off my back porch through a window with a screen. The clear pic is out the side window without the screen. If I open the door to take pics they run away--so this is what I got. Aren't they neat?

Oh No Another Quiz
You Are Emerald Green |
Deep and mysterious, it often seems like no one truly gets you. Inside, you are very emotional and moody - though you don't let it show. People usually have a strong reaction to you... profound love or deep hate. But you can even get those who hate you to come around. There's something naturally harmonious about you. |
Of course found this on another blog. I am emerald green and pretty accurately describes me. I am a pretty intense personality.
Christmas
Winter is here
I work on a PRN basis (as needed) and pretty much pick up when I want to work, and I swear on my Bible that I always seem to pick up the worst weather days to work. I guess I shoudn't complain as I only live 3 1/2 miles from work. The trip in at 2 pm was when the snow really started and the winds picked up and I could barely see. And all the snow came while I was there--probably about 6 to 8"--knee high when I cleaned off my car to come home. My 5 minute drive took 15 minutes d/t drifting--I live very country. The pic of my car is what we got after 11pm last night, and I had already cleaned off the 6-8" the night before. The geese on our lake are waking up--they were sleeping there when I got up--was not dressed yet to take pics. I also saw 5 wild turkeys streaming their way behind our pole barn. Last year I counted 78 turkeys and quit counting. Country living definitely allows you to see a lot of wildlife. It is gorgeous--but how I hate driving in it. But, Thank God, I got home safe and sound to a nice warm house that I know some people do not even have--and I drove in a nice warm dependable car. How grateful I should be. The pics of the lake are from my driveway and back porch. The flag pole is in the front yard from the driveway. Happy winter and happy knitting.
Family
If you are looking for someone to visit--you can visit my Daughter's Blog. She is a Christian SAHM who homeschools 3 boys. You will also find a small amount of knitting content. Two of my girls are crafty like their mom. Enjoy

Too Funny
For those of you who are addicted to knitting I saw this on purlygirls blog and thought it was too funny--my husband said "You should post it on your blog" so I did. There goes my PG rating--but watcha gonna do. ROFLMAO.
Are you a nerd?
I am a cool non nerd. Ahh well I gues that is what happens when you get old. April had this on her site. Just a fun little test to see if you are a nerd.

Finally
Finally some knitting content. Haven't done much knitting the past 2 or 3 months d/t new baby, family illnesses, injuries, and surgery, but here is what I have got done. The top socks are made from a regia Jaquard wool blend from a combination of the 56 st 56 row sock pattern and the basic sock pattern by Edie Eckman in the book Learn to Knit Socks. In fact all three of the pair posted are made from a combination of these 2 patterns. I love knitting socks because it is so easy to do what you want with them. Lost the ball band for the middle pair but it is a regia cotton blend. The bottom pair is from opal sock yarn--and once again misplaced the ball band. I really do try to keep track of the ball bands for when I post--but alas--lost again. Well Merry Christmas and Happy Knitting to all.

Test
Something was changed in my settings. Don't know how that happened. There was nowhere to post comments on new posts. When I post this we shall see if I fixed it. When I went in to fix it I had a devil of a time getting the allow comments on new posts to stay. Hopefully it works.

Winter
I just would like to clarify the blog post below. Until I was in my mid 50's I loved winter. I used to love to play in the snow, go toboganning (spelling?) make snowmen and all that stuff. Loved to ice skate in my teens and early 20's. Now the cold makes my joints ache. So I just dress warmly.

A Week Gone By
A little eye candy for ya. He keeps getting bigger and cuter all the time. They are just too sweet when they are little.
Had a really busy week last week. Realized on Tuesday that I was going away for the weekend to a spiritual retreat that I forgot all about--so rushed around getting ready to go. Thought about not going, but it was already paid for. Went Wed. and with my middle daughter and got to baby sit the baby while his mom went to the library. She only stayed gone about 1/2 hr. or 45 minutes then came back and we all had a nice visit. Thursday did laundry and packed for the weekend. Went on the weekend which was really much needed. The time away from phones, TV, etc did me good. Some people actually brought their laptops. I don't know about you--but 3 days away from all of that was really great. I did, though, finish a sock while I was there--so I guess I can't say too much. But it is so easy to knit and listen to the speakers at the same time. It actually helps keep me focused.
Christmas sure is creeping up fast. Need to do my Christmas shopping--don't know why--but I just cannot seem to get into it this year.
We are getting some nasty weather right now--but the reports I hear and the blogs I read tell me that to the the west of us and to the east of us it is much worse--so I will not complain. Winter isn't my favorite time of year as I get older. I never used to mind it, but the cold really gets to my old bones anymore. So I stay indoors as much as I can and dress warm.
Happy knitting.
