He's Home
Finally we arrived home about 3:30 pm today. He is on loads of different drugs. He is to take the lasix as needed only if he gains over 3-3 pounds in a day. He came home with his picc line (it is an IV) I guess this can stay in for 2 years, but since he will be cardioverted again in 3 to 4 weeks and he is such a tough stick we opted to keep this in until after the cardioversion. Then they will pull it. His daughter will change the dressing weekly--since I am not IV certified I don't even want to go there, but I will have her teach me to flush it as it will need flushed daily. He is on all kinds of different drugs, and off of some of his old ones. He is pretty tired today, so he is resting, but I am thrilled to finally have him home. Thx again for all your prayers.

Dave
Hi All, Dave had the cardiac cath today. There are no major blockages in the arteries. He will be treated with medicines. He should come home tomorrow. He is still in and out of a-fib with a kind of fast heartbeat--not as fast as it was a week and a half ago. Hopefully the meds will help. He will probably attempt to cardiovert one more time in about a week.

Update on Hubby
Hi all--Dave's clotting time was still too high today to do cardiac cath--so as it stands now they are planning to do it tomorrow. Don't know the time now. Thank you everyone for all your prayers, keep on praying.

Update on Hubby
Hi all--This is to let you all know that Dave is in good spirits and feeling much better. He is still flipping in and out of a-fib and his heart rate is still in the low hundreds--they want it a lot slower. They have stopped the blood thinner for now because doc wants to do a cardiac cath and wed or thurs and make sure this is not being caused by blockages. so--he will be in the hospital for a while longer. I would really rather they keep him to do this--it will be easier on him and myself. I came home early yesterday to write bills and do laundry. I came home early today because I am totally exhausted and I need to rest a little--then maybe I can iron. I will continue to keep you all posted.

Disappointment
Well--no homecoming today. He flipped back into a-fib--he has been going in and out of a-fib all day. They gave him 40 more mg. of IV lasix as the doc felt his lungs still sounded kind of wet. He will be getting that twice a day for now. Even though the IV amiodarone was dc'd he will continue to take that orally and they increased the dose on that. He is also back on toprol. Doc said he would go home on oral lasix for now when he does go home--that makes me feel better Thanks again for all your prayers.

Update On My Hubby
With the IV lasix Dave's lungs and tissues cleared out nicely. The did do a chest xray Monday. They did one last night which the nurse practitioner ordered to be read wet--for some reason it was not therefore the lasix didn't get started till this morning. The cardioversion was set for 2 pm this afternoon--the doc did not get there until 2:30 and lo and behold he had converted to a normal rhythm on his own. He is feeling much better now and they moved him to room 530B. Lucky man keeps getting a window bed when he is in a semi private room. He has been in 4 different rooms since he went in on Monday. 2 of them were private rooms. He will probably be sent home tomorrow. He will continue to take the amiodirone orally -- is now on aldactone, a diuretic--and zestril for his blood pressure. Thank you everyone for all your thoughts and prayers.

They will attempt to cardiovert him again tomorrow--Friday. Please pray that all goes well. Not blogging much cuz I haven't really been here. Thx so much.

Meme
If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want -- good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

Father's Day Car Show
Hubby is off to Stan Hywett Hall in Akron, Oh. to the annual Father's Day Car show to show off this beauty. This is the first year I haven't gone with him in a long time. I just can't do the sun or the walking anymore. Aging isn't what it's cracked up to be, but it sure beats the alternative. Please keep him in your thoughts. I really didn't want him to go. This Atrial fibrillation is kicking his butt. I finally talked him into cancelling our July vacation which was 2 back to back car conventions. I really want to see him stabalized before we go wondering 300 to 400 miles from home. And d/t the fact that he did finally cancel it, I know he isn't feeling too great. Men can be so stubborn. We will be calling his Doc tomorrow. Mind you, I am not whining--this is just a fact of life, and thank goodness I have learned to live with life as it comes--the good and the bad. I hope all the Dad's out there had a great Father's Day and happy knitting to all.

And A Little Eye Candy For Ya
My girls and my Mom had a birthday lunch for me today. My Birthday was Sat., but we had to go to a wedding in Columbus, Ohio--about 150 miles from where we live. Get a load of Joe Joe. He is crawling and pulling himself up and walking around the furniture. They Grow so very very fast. I can't believe he will be 8 months old on the 19th of this month!! We had a great visit and a great day. I decided to leave a little early as I was very tired--on the way home the ball joint on the passenger front of the car broke. Car still ran and looked ok so I prayed and got home safe--then we even got it to the dealership. I will get it back Thurs or Friday. In the meantime I will have to drive the truck to work tomorrow. I consider myself one very lucky woman that the tire stayed in place through the 25 mile ride from where it broke and then the 10 meal ride to the dealership. You can view the post below for some new knitting content.
Finally Some Knitting
The pattern for the white Knitted Lacy Round Dishcloth can be found here It is as easy as the petal dishcloth and goes just as fast. It was knitted with Bernat Handicrafter Cotton on size 8 needles. I think the next time I make it I will use a 6 or 7. The Red White and Blue petal dishcloth pattern can be found here. It is made with Lily Sugar'N Cream cotton color American Stripes. And last but not least is another Irish Hiking Scarf--the pattern can be found here It is made from Caron Simply Soft Gray Heather. This is the second one I have made and I have another one on the needles. I really like this scarf and it is very easy to make. So you see there is a little knitting going on. I found out I have tendonitis in my shoulder. and with some excercises it is improving. Thank goodness it was nothing major. I don't really want any joint surgeries. Dave's cardioversion did not work--but for a coupla days, so there will be much more doctoring going on. We get the results of his sleep study Friday. Well happy knitting to all.

Busy, Busy, Busy
Life has been very busy the last coupla months. So there hasn't been a lot of blogging going on. I have been working more than I usually do. The facility I work at has been very short of nurses and one can always use the money. Might as well work while I am still physically able. Unfortunately, I have not seen as much of my family as I would like to. On April 16 my husband was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and placed on Coumadin. He was cardioverted last Friday. This is where they use the electric paddles to shock the heart back in to a normal sinus rhythm. It did work--but no guarantees it will last. He will have a cardiac cath in 4 to 6 weeks. He does have a history of heart disease. He had a bypass in 1985 and an angioplasty in 1995. I will keep you all posted as time goes on. Things are good right now. There has been some knitting and crocheting going on. Just no pics. Am working on a pair of socks, an Irish Hiking Scarf, and Joe Joe's afghan. The afghan is about 60% done--but the weather is finally getting too warm to work on it, so not sure when it will be finished. I gifted a pair of socks that I never took pics of--sorry. I have been able to find the time to do some blog reading and commenting. Hope all is well with everyone out there in blog land. Happy knitting.
